LRT Presents the Most Modern TV Studio in the Baltic States: Viewers Will See It for 7 Hours a Day
On Wednesday afternoon, LRT unveiled the most modern TV studio, not only in Lithuania but across the entire Baltic region. During the grand presentation, LRT’s Head of TV News, Audrius Matonis, announced that broadcasts from this studio would be aired for 7 hours per day.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by LRT’s General Director, Audrius Siaurusevičius, Deputy General Director Rimvydas Paleckis, TV News Service Head Audrius Matonis, Innovation Manager Arnas Zuikis, Chief TV Producer Audrius Giržadas, and the project’s creator, Egmontas Bžeskas.
Following a unique “dance” performance by robotic cameras, choreographed by Arnas Zuikis, LRT’s General Director A. Siaurusevičius expressed his excitement about finally realizing this long-envisioned idea:
“We can proudly say that this is truly the most modern TV news studio in the Baltic States,” said A. Siaurusevičius, adding with a smile, “Now, we just need enough content because this studio offers more possibilities than we can currently take advantage of.”
State-of-the-Art Studio with Cutting-Edge Features
This studio is designed to create stunning visual effects that seem almost unbelievable. The setup allows for high-tech visual projections, meaning that at the push of a button, a rotating globe could appear on the hosts’ desk, a car could materialize in the studio, or, as Innovation Manager A. Zuikis described, the studio could “open up into a sea,” with a starry sky projected onto the ceiling.
Reflecting on his previous work, Egmontas Bžeskas, the studio’s lead designer, recalled that when he first designed an LRT studio in 2009, the process was far more chaotic.
“I am grateful to LRT for trusting our efforts. We had a fantastic team working on this. Compared to 2009, everything is different now—everything runs much smoother, and we are right on schedule,” said Bžeskas with a laugh.
At the presentation, LRT TV News Service Head Audrius Matonis emphasized that content creation depends on the entire team, urging viewers to stay engaged:
“You will enjoy this studio for at least 7 hours a day, as all informational programs will be broadcast from here,” he told the audience.
A Grand Opening Ceremony with an Impressive Performance
The studio launch event was attended by journalists who will be working there, including Ugnė Galadauskaitė, Eglė Bučelytė, Eglė Daugėlaitė, and Marijus Žiedas.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured a choreographed performance by robotic cameras, set to a cosmic-themed adaptation of Vivaldi’s music, arranged by A. Giržadas. During the event, LRT’s General Director cut a ribbon holding the studio’s keys, symbolizing its official opening.
First Broadcast on February 16th with High-Tech Innovations
The studio will make its television debut on February 16th, during the morning broadcast of Labas Rytas, Lietuva! (Good Morning, Lithuania).
This historic first broadcast will be filmed using two high-precision Japanese robotic cameras. Additionally, the studio is equipped with world-class VIZRT graphic systems, which integrate graphics creation, real-time rendering, and augmented reality graphics into the production workflow.
The new LRT studio marks a significant step forward in Baltic television broadcasting, offering cutting-edge technology, automation, and visually immersive experiences for viewers.
